Outsmarting AI in Recruitment: how do you spot candidates’ real skills?
(This session was held in French, subtitles are available in English)
Perfect resumes, flawless cover letters, over-rehearsed interviews… In 2026, recruiters and candidates use the same tools. This is the question Finders explored during the webinar: how do you assess what truly holds up against AI when it comes to hiring well?
To discuss it, Valérie Isabel, headhunter at Finders, compared notes with Ferdinand Kerssenbrock, a journalist at Stratégies and expert on AI and HR topics, and Johanna Dumas, Head of Marketing at Tellent. Johanna notably presented the results of an OpinionWay study conducted in May 2026 among more than 550 recruiters.
Here are a few key takeaways. For the full picture, watch the video:
- The AI paradox in recruitment: 73% of recruiters believe it distorts applications, yet 69% already use it in their own tools. As a result, 79% now see the interview as THE key moment for assessment (Tellent/OpinionWay study).
- On the ground, the results are concrete: at Unilever, integrating AI at the front end of recruitment cut CV screening time by 75%, with 16% more qualified candidates reaching interview stage.
- A simple habit to adopt right away: check that the CV matches the LinkedIn profile, and ask for an oral debrief on any exercise or case study done with the help of AI. Two minutes is enough to see whether an application has been “adjusted.”
- The golden rule: AI can lighten the top of the funnel (sorting, structuring, saving time), but it never replaces human judgment at the decision stage, and it only adds real value to a recruitment process that’s already solid.
